DEF stands for Diesel Exhaust Fluid. It is a solution of 32.5% automotive grade urea and 67.5% de-ionized water. Diesel Exhaust Fluid is used in diesel engines with Selective Catalytic Reduction technology to help meet strict emissions standards set by EPA and CEPA for diesel on-road vehicles.
WHAT IS DEF?
H2Blu DEF is a non-toxic, stable, odourless and colourless liquid made of 32.5% automotive grade urea and 67.5% de-ionized water.
H2Blu is used in diesel engines with Selective Catalytic Reduction technology to help meet strict emissions standards set by the EPA and CEPA for diesel emissions standards.
H2Blu is API certified and conforms to ISO 22241, which means it meets the standards for purity and composition to ensure your engine performs at maximum efficiency.

WHO NEEDS DEF?
Since 2010, the CEPA and EPA have legislated that emissions of oxides of nitrogen from on-road diesel engines be reduced to almost zero. Most engine manufacturers have chosen to use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, allowing vehicles to reduce the amount of emitted oxides of nitrogen. In the coming years, the emissions standards for other diesel powered vehicle categories will come into affect – most notably all off-road vehicles. In order to respect the emissions levels legislated, SCR engines need Diesel Exhaust Fluid to keep the emissions regulated.

HEALTH & SAFETY
H2Blu is a WHMIS controlled substance, considered to be an irritant to the eyes and skin. It is a stable and non-flammable solution. When used under normal conditions, it is not expected that there would be any significant health hazards. For details
STORAGE & HANDLING
In order to achieve the emissions standards for diesel on-road vehicles, it is very important that H2Blu DEF remains pure. Purity of your DEF product is critical as impurities will cause the fluid to not work properly.
This may mean:
- Your vehicle may not be meeting the emissions standards
- Your engine may use more fluid than required
- You may not achieve optimum fuel consumption
